We call ourselves The Hummingbirds because of my mother. She loved cardinals and I planned to paint her a picture of one but could not get a hummingbird out of my mind. As I searched for information about hummingbirds, I found a story about a forest fire where a hummingbird was trying with all her might to put the fire out by flitting back and forth filling its beak with water and spitting it onto the fire. The other animals were teasing the hummingbird telling it that it was impossible for it to put out that fire.
The hummingbird did not slow down as it told them, “I may not be able to, but I can do all I can!”
My mother had dementia, a fire she could not put out, but she did all she could.
Because of her, I am going to do all I can for our senior community. Your prayers and input would be greatly appreciated.
